Embracing New Horizons: Earthy Color Palette

As an artist, there is nothing more exciting than discovering a new source of inspiration. Recently, I found myself captivated by the subtle beauty of fields under the twilight sky, which became the muse for my latest pastel painting.

Finding Inspiration

The inspiration for this piece came during an evening walk with my family. The sky was a mesmerizing canvas of soft purples and golds, gently blending into one another.  I turned to some of my favorite magazines for inspiration, seeking an earthy color palette that echoed the hues from my walk.

Color Choice and Symbolism

The colors in this painting are carefully chosen to evoke warmth and calmness. The purples and blues in the sky represent tranquility and introspection, while the golden hues add a touch of warmth and hope. The deep greens of the field ground the composition, symbolizing stability and connection to nature.

Materials:

For this painting, I am using Caran d'Ache water-soluble pastels on Senso Linen Panels.  These wax pastels are my favorite medium right now because they are incredibly versatile combining the vibrancy and texture of traditional pastels with the versatility of watercolors. Using them feels like painting with crayons, offering both precision and freedom to explore textures and colors. They are also super easy to clean up, unlike the mess of oil and soft pastels bring.  You can purchase the materials from my Amazon Storefront here.

Conveying Emotion Through Art

Through this painting, I aimed to express a sense of peace and reflection. The blending of colors is intended to mirror the seamless transition of day into night, inviting viewers to pause and appreciate the beauty in simplicity and change.

This painting is more than just an artwork; it's a reflection of a moment that resonated with me. It’s a reminder to find beauty in the everyday and to let nature inspire our creativity.
